Greetings from the Co-Pastors Mimi and Graham Walker
 Thanks for visiting our church Webpage. Druid Hills Baptist Church is an exciting community and we’d love to share some exciting things happening in our community.
Our Vision is: Love God, Share Christ, Serve People, Grow in Faith.
We hope you will take some time to explore our website and learn how we are living this vision.
Recently, DHBC has made the bold step to become a “teaching congregation.” This means we have asked young energetic seminarians from our local Baptist seminary (McAfee) and the Baptist House affiliated with Candler/Emory to join us in becoming a model of urban church ministry. For decades, churches have been fleeing the city to the suburbs. Because of future-thinking church members, DHBC was graciously given an endowed presence in the Poncey-Highlands today. This is God’s gracious gift and we want to honor it. The seminarians have joined us live at 664 Seminole Avenue on the DHBC campus and they have brought enthusiasm, energy and a willingness to learn that enlivens our whole community. We look forward to the synergy of DHBC wisdom with energetic seminarians in this innovation few urban churches have an opportunity to enjoy.
Second, DHBC is committed to “a diversity of worship.” DHBC is fully aware that a diversity of worship formats will help provide the kind of worship experience needed to engage our world. We at DHBC are committed to honoring our Baptist worship heritage in our historic and beautiful sanctuary with our awe inspiring organ music. Similarly, we are introducing a “Contemporary” worship service in our Shepherd’s Theater. Also, as a way to help meet the need for a peaceful center in the midst of hectic urban world we will begin an “Ancient-Future” worship service on Sunday evenings in the Spring of 2009. This service will follow a Taize format and seeks to tap the contemplative and meditative practices of the ancient church as a way to center our lives in today.
Finally, as you learn more about our congregation and ministry opportunities you will no doubt see we are a community committed to social ministries, peace and justice issues. We invite you to learn more about us by joining us in our weekly Bible study on Sunday morning at 9: 30 AM and our forthcoming discipleship training on Wednesday evenings. Meet us around the table Wednesdays at 5:45 PM for church dinner and discipleship Training at 6:30 PM. If you are looking for community in the Poncey-Highlands, we invite you to walk with us.
